About this exam
The IBPS PO examination is India's largest single banking recruitment drive, conducted annually by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection through a Common Recruitment Process (CRP) that simultaneously fills Probationary Officer/Management Trainee vacancies across 11 participating public sector banks — including Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank, UCO Bank, Indian Overseas Bank and Central Bank of India. This is the 16th edition of the exam (CRP PO/MT-XVI). Selection runs through three stages: a qualifying Preliminary exam, a scored Mains exam (objective plus a descriptive English section), and a final Interview/Personality Test. Final merit combines normalised Mains and Interview scores; Prelims marks are not carried forward. Fresh graduates with no prior banking experience are eligible, making this a popular entry point for graduates across all academic streams.
