SSC General Duty Constable Examination(SSC GD)

About this exam

The General Duty (GD) Constable Examination is conducted annually by the Staff Selection Commission to recruit Class 10 pass candidates as Constables in the Central Armed Police Forces — Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Secretariat Security Force (SSF) — and as Riflemen in Assam Rifles and Sepoys in the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). It is typically the single largest central recruitment exercise by vacancy count. Selection runs through a Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) conducted by the respective forces, then Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Document Verification (DV). Some vacancies are earmarked specifically for candidates from notified Border Guarding Districts and Militancy/Naxal-affected districts.
